Asian Americans face unique challenges when it comes to mental health. Studies indicate several common factors that contribute to overall mental distress in Asian Americans, such as parental pressure to succeed academically, the “model minority” myth that perpetuates unhealthy and unrealistic standards for Asian Americans to live up to, the discrimination and bias faced outside of their community and the taboo surrounding mental health within.

Silent War: Asian American Reckonings with Mental Health is a full feature documentary directed by award-winning filmmaker, Changfu Chang (to learn more about Chang and his work, click here).
