Work & Education History

A.C. Brooke

My humanity renders me a storyteller by default, but my medium of choice has always been writing and photography. While I pull a lot from my own life for inspiration, most of my work covers issues at a grander scale, like mental illness or documenting the effects of the Pandemic.

The most fulfilling thing we can do is give back to our community. I’m grateful that my passions allow me an outlet to do that.

Work History

UCA WAVES | Creative Director

In April 2025, I rejoined UCA WAVES as Creative Director, where I lead the organization’s visual storytelling and communications strategy. I oversee the design and production of all digital and print materials, ensuring that our social media presence, outreach campaigns, and internal communications consistently reflect the mission and values of WAVES. I also design and manage the organization’s website, produce the monthly newsletter, and create event materials, including those for our annual conference. In addition to creative responsibilities, I contribute to strategic planning and fundraising efforts by developing grant materials and providing input on long-term initiatives.

Lancaster EMS | Director of Marketing & Development

In 2023, I joined Lancaster EMS as Director of Marketing and Development, building on an earlier internship with the department. In this role, I managed all aspects of outreach and digital communications, overseeing social media platforms and producing content that significantly increased public engagement. I designed print and digital materials to strengthen branding and support fundraising efforts, coordinated events and community partnerships, and captured photography for both promotional and internal use. I also played a key role in securing grant funding to sustain operations and community outreach.

United Chinese Americans | English Media Team Lead

My work with United Chinese Americans began in May 2022, when I joined the team to prepare for their national convention in Washington, D.C. Over the following years, I supported the organization through graphic design, website updates, and the creation of digital and print materials for advocacy and outreach. I also contributed social media content and editing support, helping to strengthen UCA’s communications strategy. This role ultimately laid the foundation for my transition into UCA WAVES, where I now serve full-time as Creative Director.

View Higher Films | Silent War Assistant Director

I work alongside award-winning filmmaker Changfu Chang on Silent War, a documentary exploring mental health in the Asian American community. My responsibilities span both production and communications: assisting with A-roll and B-roll filming, planning shoots, transcribing interviews, and providing feedback on script development and narrative structure. Beyond production, I manage the film’s website and social media platforms, develop press materials, and coordinate media outreach to increase visibility and engagement. This role has allowed me to merge creative storytelling with strategic communications in support of an important national project.

MYSFI | Assistant Course Director; Instructor

I played a key role in developing the Multicultural Youth Storytelling Film Institute (MYSFI), a grant-funded program in Howard County, Maryland, created to equip students with the tools and training to share stories reflecting minority youth experiences. I led the branding and public presence of the program, developing the logo, color scheme, website design, and promotional materials. I also supported instruction alongside lead filmmaker Changfu Chang, teaching and mentoring students in the filmmaking process. MYSFI championed youth empowerment and diversity, with plans to expand beyond Howard County.

Lancaster EMS | Marketing Intern

In the latter half of 2021, I interned with the marketing department at Lancaster EMS, gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit communications. In this hybrid role, I managed and posted content for the organization’s social media platforms, photographed personnel in action, and assisted in organizing outreach events. I also represented the company at community outings, helping strengthen its public presence. A highlight of this experience was designing print and digital media, including the company’s membership brochure and its first annual report—a thirty-page publication that sparked my passion for graphic design.

Gray Sky Portraits | Small Business Owner; Photographer

I began portrait photography at sixteen and later established my own business, focusing primarily on family portraits while also photographing weddings and special occasions. As a small business owner, I manage every stage of the process—from photographing and editing to delivering final images—while also building and maintaining an online presence to strengthen my brand. This role has expanded my expertise beyond artistry, sharpening my skills in leadership, communication, and marketing, and allowing me to connect with clients through creative, meaningful work.
