I started a tradition a few years back on my art page where I’d share a bit of wisdom on my birthday. This won’t be super profound as this years post was a bit last minute, but here it goes:
1. Showing a stranger kindness will 100% make your day better.
2. You’re a sentient piece of nature. Go for walks and spend some time with the Earth.
3. Check in on people. Ask them how they are.
Let them know you’re thinking of them. It may feel weird but I promise you all they’re thinking about is how loved they feel.
4. Always take the high road. It will benefit you in the long run, and it’s never a choice you’ll regret.
5. It’s good to be introspective, but analyzing too much will make you miserable. You can live conscientiously while not taking everything so serious.
6. “If someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time” (Maya Angelou).
7. Faith is better than hope: Faith is choosing to believe there’s a light around the bend even when you can’t see it.
8. It’s ok to say no. There’s always going to be more opportunities. You can’t lose out on what’s meant for you, but you can lose yourself by saying yes to everything.
9. We’re all on different trajectories and sometimes people come and go. That’s ok—it’s just life.
10. The secret to living a life you don’t regret is by being brave, honest and kind.
Anyways…hope that was somewhat enlightening? I’ll top it off with my new favorite collage:
