Some Candid Thoughts On the Film’s Journey & My Own
Some Silent War film stills shot by Dr. Chang that I threw in #Lightroom. Like any project, this has grown and taken longer in ways we didn’t anticipate, but we truly are nearing the end now. Next weekend, I’ll be headed to Maryland to retape some of the b-roll I shot my junior year of college, which has sort of served as a placeholder over the past few years…really looking forward to that! I’ve been working on building a new website and putting together a press kit for the film, hence why I exported these frames today. Also hoping to get back in the movie’s Instagram whenever I remember what I set the password as (#whoops).
It’s been really fun this past month getting to dive into this project again. I absolutely love documentary work and everything it entails, from pre to post-production. More recently I’ve started to think about how I can start pursuing my original dream of being a photojournalist. I mean, maybe not full-time, as there needs to be a balance between passion and practicality. But an interesting side effect of therapy is that now that I don’t feel like I have to ‘earn my right to be here’, there’s less pressure to BE something. Ultimately, that’s a wonderful thing. But it has made me reflect on how I can avoid being passive in my life and where that line actually lies.
But anyway…just thought I’d share that update, both on the film and my own journey. Oh, and go birds!!!!!
