Making Waves on the West Coast
I’m elated to share that Paper Birds has been officially selected for inclusion in the Hollywood Independent Filmmaker Awards & Festival! I know this is a cheesy sentiment, but really, honored is an understatement.
On a more candid, serious note: Around this time six years ago my sessions ended with Dr. Sizer, my former psychologist featured in the film. I have a very clear memory of laying in bed casually calculating when would be the best time to end my life to mitigate—in vain—whatever possible devastation I could on my family. I’m thankful that never came to fruition for a whole lot of reasons. But I never guessed that one of them would be because, half a decade later, a documentary I made about the very thing I once thought was my undoing was going to be screened in Beverly Hills.
Very blessed, very humbled, very thankful. My deepest gratitude to HIFAF!!
